Academic Resource Center (ARC)

The Academic Resource Center is the central tutoring center at Illinois Tech. We offer in-person and online tutoring for students from all majors and courses across the board at no cost. All tutors have been through the coursework themselves and are aware of all the areas where most help may be needed.

We support students’ path to academic excellence and professional development through a network of highly qualified, supportive, and empathetic peer scholars.

Tutoring Breakdown

  • Walk-in table tutoring is offered by subject area (MATH, PHYS, CHEM, etc.) where a tutor is available per a schedule for students to obtain course-related help. Typically most tutors can help with courses from all 100-400 level courses and will refer to other tutors if needed. This tutoring schedule is loaded to a searchable calendar for the entire semester at the start.
  • Through the Supplemental Instruction (SI) program, we offer targeted tutoring for all early coursework (MATH, PHYS, and CS 100-200 level courses) and some advanced courses where more academic help is typically sought after. SI Scholars are assigned to particular classes. They will attend lectures with you and host 2-4.5 hours of specialized tutoring sessions per week for this course exclusively. They will also host group study sessions before midterms and finals and for major project submissions.

Here Is How We Can Help!

  • How To Connect With A Tutor
    • Tutoring is walk-in, appointments are not required.
      • Simply walk into Galvin Library on the lower level and talk to the ARC Monitor at the desk. They will connect you to a tutor based on the subject or course you need help with.
