Navigating your Career with Peer Career Coaches

Careers are such an important part of the college journey and as Peer Career Coaches we play a part in guiding Illinois Tech students in the path of a suitable career with the skills they have developed both in and out of the classroom. At career services we provide resume and cover letter reviews by providing professional insights into resumes and cover letters brought by students.

Besides walk-ins, we also have a software known as Vmock that provides up-to-date industry-standard reviews on resumes in case students cannot make physical appointments. There are also different events that pop up during the semester where peer career coaches dedicate time to giving tips to students that may have questions about their resume/cover letter. One example is resumepalooza where we spend the day reviewing different resumes/cover letters for a much longer amount of time than drop-in hours.

There are different approaches to making improvements on resumes besides walking in to career services like reaching out to alumni, connecting with different professionals on LinkedIn, etc. All in all Illinois Tech Career services is a great resource and any student should use them as much as they can.
