My experience as a Team Lead & why Career Services is the best!

B.A.G

Behavior. Attitude. Goal

My experience with Career Services has been fantastic. Within a month of joining the team as a Student & Employer Engagement Leader (SEEL), I was promoted to the position of TEAM LEAD (TL). I currently oversee the entire department and serve as the point of contact for the university’s administrators, students, and student employers. I conducted interviews, hired [2] student workers, and oversaw [9] student workers and [8] employees. This is the power of Career Services; they help you to shine. Career Services offers assistance with resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, Handshakes, interviews, and employment searches. They also provide mock interviewing and learning opportunities for students seeking CPT (Curricular Practical Training) or internships.

Here are the top resources that Career Services has personally made available to me as a student and that I urge you to utilize this spring:

  • Career Fairs – You have the chance to present yourself professionally and exhibit your communication abilities in-person to a potential employer at a career fair. Every semester, they take place once or twice.
  • Documents Review – To ensure that your application stands out among the thousands of others submitted by students. Cover letters and resumes are carefully examined. Students can make appointments using Handshake or just stop by our desk.
  • Mock Interviews – To ensure that you control your interview. Following your mock interview, you can get suggestions on how to improve and what to practice for.
  • Job Strategy – To enhance business relationships. We have a document that outlines every detail students should consider in order to be on the right road in our LinkedIn group.
