A Career Center
Without Borders

Where international professionals, alumni, and employers connect — anytime, wherever you are in the world.

It is two in the morning in Mumbai. A software engineer who graduated from Illinois Tech five years ago is preparing for a final-round interview with a multinational employer. He needs to refresh his resume, review the company’s recent hiring patterns, study the labor market data for his target role, and reach out to an alumna who has worked there for three years. His career office in Chicago is closed. His coach is asleep.

But his career center is open. His employers are listed. And his alumni are reachable.

The Illinois Tech Elevate and Careers Hub is a virtual career center designed for the way international professionals actually work. It is online, continuously updated, and accessible from anywhere in the world. It does not close at five. It does not require you to be on campus. It does not assume you are in the same time zone as Chicago.

For the global Illinois Tech community — current international students, alumni working abroad, study-away participants, and the multinational employers actively recruiting our talent — the Hub is where these three groups meet.

Section One

Built for International Professionals

International professionals face career questions that traditional career centers were not designed to answer. How do you build a resume that works across borders? How do you negotiate compensation when you are comparing offers in different currencies and labor markets? How do you research a company headquartered in Chicago when you are based in Lagos? How do you connect with an alumna who works at your target employer when you have never met her in person?

The Hub addresses these questions through a continuously growing library of resources. Resume and cover letter guides. Interview preparation videos. Real-time labor market data through our partnership with Lightcast. Self-assessments to clarify direction. Industry-specific career pathways spanning consulting, engineering, software, manufacturing, healthcare, education, government, and the arts.

Every resource is available the moment you need it — not when an office happens to be open.

Section Two

Employers Who Are Already Looking for You

The strongest career platforms do not just teach you how to find a job. They show you who is hiring.

The Hub features a curated network of Illinois Tech industry partners actively recruiting our talent globally. Epic Systems. Mitsubishi Electric Automation. Grainger. APL Logistics. Sargent & Lundy. Multinational engineering and consulting firms. Architecture and design practices working across continents. Healthcare and life sciences organizations recruiting across borders. Federal and municipal partners. Major employers in finance, technology, and infrastructure.

Each partner brings open positions, internship opportunities, and direct contact pathways. International students will find a dedicated Global Jobs, Internships & Sponsorships feed surfacing roles tagged for international candidates and visa-sponsoring employers. Alumni will find postings filtered by industry, geography, and seniority level. Every listing connects directly to the hiring team — no third-party recruiter walls, no application black holes.

When you log in at two in the morning in Mumbai, those employers are visible. Their jobs are searchable. Their requirements are documented. You move forward.

Section Three

Alumni Who Have Walked the Path Before You

The Hub is more than a resource library. It is a network.

Illinois Tech graduates work across more than 100 countries and across every major industry. Through the Alumni Mentorship Program inside the Hub, current students and recent graduates can connect with alumni working in their target industry, geography, or function. A first-year international student in Chicago can connect with an alumna in Singapore. A recent graduate in Lagos can reach a senior engineer in Berlin. A junior considering consulting can speak with an alumnus at McKinsey, BCG, or a boutique firm halfway around the world.

These connections are not cold outreach. They are facilitated through the platform with shared institutional context, shared career frameworks, and shared accountability. The mentor and mentee already speak the same career language. The introduction is warmer because the platform makes it warmer.

For international alumni in particular, the Hub closes the gap that geography opens. You graduated from Illinois Tech. You work somewhere in the world. The Hub is the channel through which your career continues to be supported — and through which you can pay that support forward to the next generation of international professionals coming up behind you.

“A career center should not be a place you visit. It should be a resource you carry with you — across borders, across time zones, across career stages.”

Section Four

Always Open. Always Online. Always Growing.

What makes a virtual career center genuinely useful is not just that it exists. It is that it is alive. The Hub is updated continuously — new employer postings, new alumni features, new career resources, new events, new opportunities. Career Services partners with industry, faculty, alumni, and student leaders across Illinois Tech to keep the platform reflective of where the labor market is actually moving.

This week alone, the platform features a Mock Phone Screen practice session, a McKinsey Italy coffee chat, a recruitment webinar for federal marine roles, a New Graduate Nurse virtual information session, and the launch of free AWS Academy summer certification cohorts. Across a single week, employers and alumni and learning opportunities converge on one platform.
