Three Competencies, Translated Into Civilian Terms
The service is already done; the deliverable is the translation. A recruiter who has never served cannot decode a billet description or a leadership lab – so the work here is naming three competencies you built and writing them in words a civilian hiring manager reads without a glossary.
No cost. Two cautions worth reading before you submit anything. Do not include classified, sensitive or operationally specific material in an artifact – redact or choose a different one, and when in doubt, choose a different one. And your service record is yours: submit only what verifies participation, not your full file. Talk it through with a coach first
1ABOUTWhat This Is▾
Recognition for work you are already doing. ROTC cadets and serving members build leadership, teamwork and professionalism under conditions most students never encounter, and this converts that into Elevate credit and a portfolio artifact rather than asking you to add another commitment on top.
The artifact can be something you have already produced: a leadership lab summary, a physical training or training plan you wrote, or an after-action review. What it cannot be is a description of your unit – it has to be something you personally made or led.

2THE WORKFour Steps, Mostly Writing▾
The service is the hard part and you have already done it. Each step here produces one part of the record.
Leadership labs, physical training, field training, or service responsibilities. Dates and roles, not a narrative. Your roster, orders or DD-214 covers the proof itself.
Feeds: The record
A leadership-lab summary, a training plan, or an after-action review. Something you wrote or led, that shows judgment rather than attendance.
Feeds: The artifact
Pick three from the career-readiness framework and say precisely what you did that demonstrates each. Three specific ones beat a list of ten.
Feeds: Three competencies
Rewrite each without acronyms, unit names, or rank shorthand. If a friend outside the military would not follow it, it is not translated yet.

Named in the language employers and career readiness frameworks use, so you can put these words on a resume and defend them.
