We at BioDawn Innovations, a biotech startup located in Oak Brook IL., are thrilled to announce our internship program for students. BioDawn’s goal is to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate drug discovery for age-related diseases.
Program Details
At BioDawn Innovations, with the mentorship and guidance of PhD trained scientists, interns will have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge obtained from the classroom to practical solutions in developing therapeutics for chronic diseases. Our program is designed to provide students with experience in drug discovery by utilizing machine learning techniques on large biological datasets. Furthermore, our program provides an opportunity to work in a biotech environment exposing interns to the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurial spirit.
The Opportunity
The opportunity encompasses the following: (1). Interns will contribute to developing novel algorithms, models, and training techniques for molecular data using methods inspired by machine learning. (2). Develop and implement computational pipelines for preprocessing, integrating, and visualizing single-cell and multi-omics (genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics) datasets.
Required Skills
- Strong background in machine learning and deep learning fundamentals
- Experience on building and training neural networks
- Experience with at least one Deep Learning (DL) framework (e.g., Pytorch , Azure, scikit-learn)
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and Bash is preferred
- Familiar with large biological datasets is preferred
- Excellent communication skills and self-starter
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as a masters or senior undergraduate student in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence or related fields
- Strong desire to learn about the drug discovery and development process
