The Ford Motor Company Policy and Office of General Counsel (OGC) is seeking a highly motivated and talented law student to join our team for a summer internship. This internship provides a unique and immersive opportunity to function as a contributing member of a fast-paced, in-house policy and legal organization. As an intern, you will gain unparalleled experience at the intersection of law, policy, and business, helping to address the complex legal needs of a global automotive leader.

As a legal policy intern, you will not just observe but actively participate in the transformation of legal practice and policy landscape.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do…
As an intern, you will be deeply integrated into our team, taking ownership of substantive work and contributing to long-term projects. Your responsibilities will include:
Advanced Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth legal research on a variety of complex topics relevant to Ford’s global operations including, but not limited to, global trade policy, supply chain resiliency and global sustainability and ESG compliance. You will use advanced legal research platforms and AI-powered tools to provide actionable insights to our attorneys.
Review and Draft Documents: Take a lead role in drafting and reviewing a wide array of legal and regulatory documents and internal policies. You will have the opportunity to use AI-powered tools to identify risks, ensure compliance, and suggest negotiation points and policy positions.
Project Management and Substantive Support: Take a substantive role in managing key projects and supporting transactional matters, policy development, and regulatory compliance.
Strategic Team Engagement: Actively participate in team meetings, attend and present at briefing sessions, and observe department functions as appropriate. You will have opportunities to network with senior leadership and other professionals across the company.
Qualifications
You’ll have…
- Pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) Degree from an accredited law school and have completed at least one year of Law School Education.
- Must be willing to relocate to Washington, DC for the summer
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or better
- Must be available for full time work by September 2028

- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and demonstrate automotive and technical comprehension
- Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough legal research using various databases and resources.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong interest in leveraging policy in legal work.
- Prior experience in a legal setting (e.g., law firm, in-house legal department, judicial clerkship) is preferred but not required.
- Participation in moot court, mock trial, law review, or other relevant extracurricular activities is a plus.
- A demonstrated interest in the intersection of law and policy is highly desirable.
- JD GPA of 3.25 or higher preferred
