Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as a supervisor. Under administrative direction, this position oversees the activities of a team of professional DCFS licensing staff regarding clearances; develops and maintains logs, tracking systems, and reports related to the processing of Authorization for Background Checks for Home of Relatives of DCFS and child welfare contributing agencies; monitors and reviews data entry. Additionally, the position provides specialized, technical secretarial and office support functions, utilizing extensive independent knowledge, judgment, and discretion.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as Home of Relative Certification Supervisor
  • Serves as working supervisor
  • Provides specialized, technical secretarial and office support functions, utilizing extensive independent knowledge, judgment, and discretion
  • Coordinates the receipt, review, and data entry of the individual certification summary recommendations, processing of background check authorization forms and results, dissemination to Department and CWCA staff, and
    follow-up recommendations to the Department
  • Develops and maintains logs, tracking systems, and reports related to the processing of home of relatives individual certification summary recommendations, processing of Authorization for Background Checks, and
    clearances by background check unit
  • Recommends establishment of new operating procedures or revision of existing methods
  • Performs various critical data entry transactions, audits, and request of special individual certification summary reports
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of study at a secretarial/business college and one year of office experience, or completion of high school and three years of Office Assistant experience, or three years of independent business experience.
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.
