Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is recruiting to fill multiple Senior level Civil Engineer Transportation positions located in the Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) offices throughout the State.

WisDOT is recruiting to fill positions located in offices throughout the State:
- Southeast (SE) Region in Waukesha
- Southwest (SW) Region in LaCrosse or Madison (2101 Wright Street)
- Northwest Region (NW) in Superior, Eau Claire and Spooner
- North Central ( NC) Region in Rhinelander and Wisconsin Rapids
- Northeast (NE) Region in Green Bay
- Central Office Bureau positions also located in Madison (4822 Madison Yards Way) or Milwaukee

Position Summary
Positions are responsible for performing professional engineering senior level duties and applying engineering expertise for multi-modal transportation programs. Positions will work in one of the department’s engineering program areas that may include: design, construction, utilities, soils, planning, traffic and maintenance of transportation facilities in addition to other areas of focus. Under general supervision, this position performs independently and has extensive authority in carrying out their assigned responsibilities. Work at this level requires a high degree of interpretation and creativity in evaluating and carrying out engineering assignments.
Salary Information
The Civil Engineer Transportation Senior level position is in pay schedule 14-13. Starting pay is between $80,870 and $99,403 annually depending upon qualifications plus excellent benefit, plus an additional $2,080/year for individuals who hold a Professional Engineer license.
Pay for internal candidates is determined per the compensation plan. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process. For permanent positions that allow remote work flexibility, it is not anticipated that working outside of Wisconsin (or bordering cities) will be allowed because positions may need to report to office locations in Wisconsin on short notice.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified candidates will have –
- Upon application, candidate must have graduated from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) ABET accredited college or university with a 4-year bachelor’s degree (or Master’s or PH.D.) in engineering OR possess a PE license (registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin OR a valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if PE registration is from another state).
- At least 4 years of engineering experience after receiving their engineering degree from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) ABET accredited college or university.
