The Arabic Debate Club (ADC) empowers students to master Modern Standard Arabic through debate, critical thinking, and meaningful dialogue, fostering confident communicators, engaged scholars, and globally connected leaders.
As a member of ADC, you will be offered official training in Arabic debate format used by Qatar Debate including motion analysis, case building, and rebuttal structure. Beyond strengthening analytical and argumentative skills, this training will be conducted in Arabic, providing students with an opportunity to develop advanced academic and professional communication skills in the language. ADC would create a space where students can articulate complex political, social, economic, and ethical ideas in Arabic with confidence. The ability to analyze motions, construct structured arguments, and deliver persuasive rebuttals in Arabic enhances bilingual fluency and allows students to engage meaningfully with professional opportunities in the Arab world. Motion analysis sharpens a studentâs ability to break down complex ideas, which can be an essential skill in engineering and research. Case building reinforces logical reasoning and evidence-based arguments, which can be critical in presentations and academic writing. Rebuttal structure develops quick thinking and the ability to critically evaluate opposing perspectives, skills that could be used in teamwork, discussions, and leadership roles. In addition, members will be eligible to represent the university in regional and international Qatar Debate tournaments and gain access to club resources such as mock debates and recorded sessions for self-improvement. Through these experiences, students strengthen not only their analytical and public speaking skills, but also their connection to the Arabic language as a medium for intellectual discourse.
Our club strives to strengthen membersâ command of Modern Standard Arabic in speaking, writing, and reasoning. We also will train members to compete in Qatar Debateâs regional and international championships. While one of our primary goals is to prepare and train members to compete in Qatar Debateâs championships, the organization is not limited to competitive participation. We welcome all students (whether they want to compete or simply wish to improve their Arabic communication skills). Beyond, competition, the club seeks to foster confidence, intellectual discipline, and engagement with contemporary issues in the Arab world.
