The mission of this student organization is to bring a part of Chicago and Latino culture to Illinois Tech through salsa and bachata dance.
Latin Dance would provide students with the opportunity to learn salsa and bachata social dancing. This style of dancing is deeply rooted in Chicagoâs culture and Latino culture at large, and as such, students will be able to become a part of it. Additionally, weekly practice allows for opputunities for students to meet and socialize with one another.
We aspire to take any student with no dancing experience and build their skills to the point where they are confident to dance with strangers. Alongside that, Latin Dance would aspire to build a welcoming, easy-going environment that welcomes all levels of dancers where students feel comfortable stepping out of their comfort zones. We aim to provide newcomers a gateway into the dance scene in Chicago and participate in the culture.
