In May 2024, the Museum of Science and Industry was officially renamed Kenneth C. Griffin Museum of Science and Industry in recognition of a historic $125 million gift — the largest in the museum’s history. In 2025, the Driehaus Foundation announced a $10 million capital grant to fund renovation of the museum’s south entrance accessibility and new public amenity spaces. The museum recently opened the Kenneth C. Griffin Studio, an immersive multimedia experience, and continues to expand cutting-edge exhibits like The Blue Paradox and the Henry Crown Space Center.
About Griffin MSI
Griffin MSI is the largest and most interactive science museum in the Western Hemisphere, housed in the historic Palace of Fine Arts from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. Since opening in 1933, the museum has hosted more than 200 million visitors. Popular exhibits include the U-505 Submarine (a captured WWII German submarine), the Coal Mine, Science Storms, the Pioneer Zephyr, and the Apollo 8 command module.

Key Leaders
Dr. Chevy Humphrey, President & CEO — The first woman and Black American to lead Griffin MSI. Previously served as CEO of the Arizona Science Center for nearly 15 years. Named Mentor of the Year by Phoenix Business Journal and recognized as one of its Most Admired CEOs. Currently serves as Chair of the Board of the American Alliance of Museums.
