In December 2024, Governor JB Pritzker appointed Gia Biagi as the new IDOT Secretary, bringing decades of experience in urban planning, transportation, and public policy. She previously served as Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Transportation. IDOT recently published its $41.4 billion Multi-Year Improvement Plan for fiscal years 2025-2030, including $23 billion for state road maintenance, modernization, and expansion. The department is also hosting its 35th Annual “Today’s Challenge, Tomorrow’s Reward” Conference in April 2026.
