The Brazilian Association at Illinois Institute of Technology (BAIIT) exists to celebrate, promote, and share Brazilian culture within the IIT community while creating a welcoming and supportive environment for Brazilian students. The organization seeks to provide a sense of belonging by honoring Brazilâs language, traditions, and values, while also inviting students from all backgrounds to experience and appreciate the richness of Brazilian culture. By building cultural connections, encouraging inclusion, and fostering pride in Brazilian heritage, BAIIT aims to strengthen community, cultural awareness, and global engagement across campus.
BAIIT will benefit students by having a global and inclusive community on campus. For Brazilian students, the organization will provide a true âtaste of home,â creating a supportive community where they can share traditions, language, and experiences. For non-Brazilian students, it will be an opportunity to experience a new culture, offering opportunities to learn about Brazil through food, music, film, and events that highlight our diverse heritage. Participation in conferences will also allow students to network with professionals, and exchange knowledge. Furthermore, the alumni mentorship will create a valuable space for mentorship, career advice, and learning, helping students navigate both academic and professional paths with confidence.
BAIITâs goals are to bring Brazilian culture to life at IIT through events such as cultural festivals, food tastings, film screenings, music, and traditional activities, while also promoting IIT in Brazil through participation in conferences and outreach. The organization aims to build strong connections between students and Brazilian alumni by providing leadership, networking, and mentorship opportunities that support academic and career development. Through these efforts, BAIIT seeks to create a vibrant cultural hub, increase the visibility of Brazilian culture on campus, and build a lasting, supportive community for both Brazilian and non-Brazilian students.
